Rockland County Sewer District No. 1 is seeking a candidate to work in their fast-paced Maintenance Department.. The work is specialized, diverse and can be complex in nature.
This is maintenance and repair work of a complex technical nature which involves working on various pneumatic, electrical, electronic and hydraulic instruments at a wastewater treatment plant. The work is performed under the general supervision of a higher-level administrator. Does related work as required.
Thorough knowledge of instruments, electrical and electronic devices, and test equipment; good knowledge of the physical sciences and mathematics, electricity and electronics theory and practice; ability to operate hand tools to perform instrument repairs; manual dexterity; ability to understand and interpret technical materials, related to electronics.
The job duties of an Electronic Equipment Repairer includes the following: installs, repairs, maintains and adjusts all types of pneumatic electrical and electronic instruments and controls; troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctioning instruments and tests them to locate defects; performs routine and preventive maintenance on electronic and electrical instruments and devices and keeps records of same; assists in designing, planning and building special instrumentation as required; performs electrical safety checks throughout facility on instruments, tools, fixtures and wiring to ensure safe, electrical conditions.
Minimum Qualifications:
An Associate's degree or equivalent college credits (minimum of sixty (60) credits) or higher in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Science, Bio-Medical Engineering, Electronics, Electrical Technology or comparable degree.
Two (2) years of experience in the repair of electrical, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic or related instruments and/or devices.
Note:
Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma plus additional years of the required experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Specialized training, including appropriate BOCES training, in the repair of electrical, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic or related instruments and/or devices may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Completion of a formal apprenticeship course of two (2) or more years as an Electronic Equipment Mechanic shall be deemed fully qualifying.
Other Requirements and Information:
Residency in New York, New Jersey or Connecticut is a requirement for this position.
Possession of a valid driver’s license.
Pre-employment medical examination and medical clearance for the use of respiratory equipment
Civil service examination requirements have been waived for this position. Candidates must only meet the minimum qualifications for consideration.
