Controller (Consulting) – Nonprofit | Fully On-Site | Upper West Side, NYC
We’re partnering with one of our top clients, a respected nonprofit organization in the Upper West Side, to identify a Controller (consulting/temporary) with strong nonprofit accounting experience.
This is a hands-on role supporting leadership through month-end close, reporting, and audit preparation. Ideal for someone who thrives in mission-driven environments and can step in quickly to make an impact.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare monthly financial reporting package for leadership
Manage general ledger activity including journal entries and reconciliations
Perform bank and investment account reconciliations
Oversee cash receipts and related reconciliations
Prepare sales and use tax filings
Support audit readiness including Form 990 preparation
Assist with state and city audit processes
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
Nonprofit / not-for-profit accounting experience required
Experience within education institutions or charter schools highly preferred
Hands-on experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge
Advanced MS Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP)
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in an on-site environment
Work Environment
