Overview:
We are seeking a technical and hands-on Senior Controller to lead and scale our accounting and financial operations within a fast-growing, high-tech environment. This individual will play a critical role in building financial infrastructure, owning the full accounting function, and ensuring accuracy, scalability, and compliance across all financial reporting and revenue recognition processes.
The ideal candidate is a CPA with deep SaaS experience, strong ASC 606 expertise, and a proven track record of building or significantly enhancing ERP and budgeting systems in high-growth environments. This role requires both strategic leadership and a willingness to operate at a detailed, hands-on level.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Reporting
Own the full accounting function, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, equity accounting, and monthly close
Build, document, and enforce accounting policies, controls, and procedures to support scalability and audit readiness
Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Ensure compliance with GAAP, ASC 606, and other applicable accounting standards
Lead audit preparation and serve as the primary liaison for external auditors
Revenue Recognition
Own end-to-end revenue recognition under ASC 606
Evaluate deal structures (subscription, usage-based, hybrid, and professional services) to ensure accurate revenue treatment
Oversee deferred revenue accounting, revenue waterfall analysis, and revenue forecasting
Provide insight into revenue trends, bookings-to-revenue conversion, and contract performance
Payroll & Procure-to-Pay (P2P)
Oversee end-to-end payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing
Ensure proper controls, reconciliations, and accounting for payroll and related expenses
Own the full procure-to-pay cycle, including vendor onboarding, purchase orders, invoice processing, and payments
Establish and enforce P2P policies, approval workflows, and internal controls
Oversee 3-way matching and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
Financial Planning, Budgeting & Analysis Support
Partner with FP&A to build annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and scenario models
Monitor actuals vs. budget and provide detailed variance analysis and commentary
Support cash forecasting and liquidity planning in coordination with Finance leadership
Financial Systems & Infrastructure
Lead the implementation and optimization of ERP and budgeting/forecasting systems
Design scalable accounting workflows and reporting structures
Partner with Engineering, IT, and external vendors to ensure system integration and data integrity
Qualifications
Active CPA required
10–12+ years of progressive accounting experience
Prior experience as a Senior Controller or accounting leader in a high-growth or venture-backed environment
Familiarity with tax compliance and filing requirements for partnerships and C corporations
Deep expertise in ASC 606 revenue recognition, including complex contract analysis
Strong technical accounting background with the ability to independently interpret complex transactions
Experience working closely with auditors and ensuring audit readiness in high-growth environments
Hands-on experience implementing ERP systems and budgeting/forecasting tools
Comfortable operating in a “roll-up-your-sleeves” environment (not purely oversight-based leadership) and able to prioritize and balance multiple projects simultaneously
Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical accounting concepts into actionable business insights
