Job Summary
The Director of Retention and Renewals Marketing is responsible for developing and executing sophisticated retention marketing strategies to maximize member lifetime value and reduce churn through data-driven segmentation, personalized campaigns, and lifecycle marketing initiatives. This senior role combines strategic marketing expertise with analytics-driven decision making to identify at-risk members, design targeted intervention campaigns, and strengthen customer loyalty across all member segments. The Director will lead cross-functional marketing initiatives and collaborate with executive leadership to align retention and renewals programs with overall business objectives.
Responsibilities
Retention Marketing Strategy: Design and implement segmented retention and renewals campaigns, member lifecycle programs, and personalized communication strategies based on behavioral data and predictive analytics.
Customer Segmentation & Targeting: Develop sophisticated member segmentation models to deliver targeted retention interventions across different cohorts, tenure groups, risk profiles, and renewal cycles.
Campaign Development: Create and optimize multi-channel retention campaigns including email marketing, SMS, in-app messaging, direct mail, and personalized outreach programs to drive renewals and prevent churn.
Data-Driven Decision Making: Leverage marketing analytics, A/B testing, and member insights to identify trends, predict churn risk, and measure campaign effectiveness across the customer journey.
Marketing Technology Management: Oversee marketing automation platforms, CRM systems, and analytics tools to deliver personalized retention experiences at scale.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, Data Science, Customer Success, and Finance teams to design member-focused initiatives that address root causes of cancellations and optimize renewal rates.
Performance Optimization: Establish, monitor, and report on retention marketing KPIs (retention rate, renewal conversion, lifetime value, campaign ROI) and continuously optimize based on performance data.
Strategic Innovation: Benchmark retention marketing best practices in fintech and subscription businesses, driving innovation in customer lifecycle marketing and renewals programs.
Team Leadership: Guide marketing initiatives across retention touchpoints while fostering a data-driven, customer-centric culture aligned with AutoPayPlus's core values.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field
Master’s degree (MBA or Marketing Analytics) preferred, with a focus on data-driven strategy or customer experience
5–10 years of experience in retention marketing, customer lifecycle marketing, or CRM marketing (fintech/financial services strongly preferred)
Proven expertise in customer segmentation, behavioral analytics, and marketing automation platforms with demonstrated success in reducing churn and increasing renewals
Strong background in marketing technology stack including CRM platforms, marketing automation tools, and analytics platforms (Mixpanel, Amplitude, Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar)
Experience with marketing attribution, cohort analysis, and retention marketing campaign optimization across multiple channels
Demonstrated success with A/B testing, conversion optimization, and data-driven marketing decision making
Proven expertise in customer segmentation, behavioral analytics, and marketing automation platforms with demonstrated success in reducing churn and increasing renewals
Strong background in marketing technology stack including CRM platforms, marketing automation tools, and analytics platforms (Mixpanel, Amplitude, Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar)
