An established firm based in Farmington, Michigan with over 60+ years in practice is seeking a Civil Defense Attorney with 3+ years of experience to join their team in a hybrid work arrangement. This role involves handling civil defense litigation, insurance defense, professional liability, premises liability, and complex tort matters, representing insurers and insured clients in state and federal courts while managing cases through all phases of litigation.

QualificationsActive Michigan Bar membership in good standingThree years of experience handling civil defense or insurance defense litigationExperience with motion practice, discovery, depositions, and court appearancesBackground defending professional liability, premises liability, or general tort mattersStrong legal research, writing, and analytical skillsAbility to manage multiple matters independently in a collaborative team environmentStrong client communication skills and sound professional judgment

ResponsibilitiesDefend clients in civil and insurance defense litigation matters from inception through resolutionDraft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and substantive legal memorandaConduct and defend depositions and participate in hearings, mediations, and trialsDevelop litigation strategy and advise clients on risk exposure and resolution optionsCollaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and staff to deliver effective and efficient client serviceManage active caseloads while meeting court deadlines and client expectations - For this position, you must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship for a non-immigrant visa.
