The GenAI Development Group Manager is a hands‑on development senior‑management level position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team or department in effort to establish and implement new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology Team. The overall objective of this role is to drive application systems analysis and programming activities within the Common Platforms domain of the Operations Technology group within Citi.

Responsibilities

Manage multiple teams of professionals to accomplish established goals and conduct personnel duties, including performance evaluations, hiring, and disciplinary actions.

Provide strategic influence and exercise control over resources, budget management and planning while monitoring end results.

Utilize in‑depth knowledge of concepts and procedures within own area and basic knowledge of other areas to resolve issues.

Ensure essential procedures are followed and contribute to defining standards.

Integrate in‑depth knowledge of applications development with overall technology function to achieve established goals.

Provide evaluative judgment based on analysis of facts in complicated, unique, and dynamic situations including drawing from internal and external sources.

Influence and negotiate with senior leaders across functions, as well as communicate with external parties as necessary.

Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citi, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Qualifications

10+ years of relevant experience in applications development.

Experience in managing an application development team, including budget and performance management.

Forecast future technology needs and make strategic recommendations to maintain competitive advantage and efficiency.

Solid understanding of GenAI principles and architectures, coupled with proficiency in frameworks and libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face Transformers and MLOps practices for managing the lifecycle of GenAI solutions.

Primary coding expertise in Python, with extensive hands‑on development experience.

Strong background in GenAI, including working with LLMs, Google Gemini, and vector databases such as FAISS, Pinecone, Chroma; experience in designing retrieval‑augmented solutions is highly preferred.

Hands‑on Coding Manager able to lead by example—driving architecture, reviewing code, mentoring engineers, and contributing directly to development.

Experience building and supporting microservices‑based applications (secondary skill set).

Proven ability to design and implement new applications leveraging Angular, Python, and microservices architectures.

Strong understanding of cloud‑native development, API design, and modern software engineering best practices.

Ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams, translate business requirements into technical solutions, and deliver scalable, resilient systems.

Oversee the performance, growth, and development of individual managers, providing mentorship, coaching, and career guidance.

Establish and champion a culture of continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and technical excellence within the engineering organization.

Champion Agile/Scrum methodologies and foster a continuous delivery mindset within the full‑stack development organization.

Define and communicate the technical vision and strategy for the full‑stack development teams, aligning with overall business objectives.

Drive innovation and adoption of best practices in Angular, Python, Microservices, Spring Boot, and related technologies across multiple teams.

Provide high‑level technical guidance and architectural oversight for major Angular frontend and Python backend initiatives, ensuring scalability, reliability, and maintainability.

Facilitate technical discussions and decision‑making processes, ensuring alignment with architectural principles and engineering best practices.

Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in the full‑stack ecosystem.

Act as a primary liaison between engineering, product management, and other business units, translating technical complexities into clear business implications.

Communicate effectively with executive leadership on team performance, project status, and strategic initiatives.

Experience managing global technology teams.

Working knowledge of industry practices and standards.

Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication.

Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Master’s degree preferred.

Additional Information
Primary location: Irving, Texas, United States.

Salary range: $156,160.00 – $234,240.00. Additional compensation may include discretionary and formulaic incentive and retention awards.
