We are seeking a Board Certified Psychiatrist for a locum opportunity within the Mass General Brigham system in Newton, Massachusetts.
This is a full-time inpatient psychiatry role focused on acute adult psychiatric care within a structured, multidisciplinary hospital setting. The position offers strong clinical support, a stable weekday schedule, and meaningful patient impact.

Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit Academic Hospital Setting
- Monday Friday
- 8:00 AM 5:00 PM
- No call required
- Full-time assignment
- Orientation: 8 hours (non-billable)
- ️ Stable weekday-only structure
- Inpatient adult psychiatric care
- Average census: 33 patients/day
- Patient load: 8 patients per day per provider
- Manage a broad range of psychiatric conditions:
- Bipolar disorder
- Major depression
- Schizophrenia
- Anxiety disorders
- Substance use disorders
- Personality disorders
- ️ Daily rounding and treatment planning
- Medication management and stabilization planning
- Collaboration with multidisciplinary behavioral health team
- 45-bed inpatient psychiatric unit
- ️ Strong support staff including:
- Registered Nurses (RNs)
- Mental Health Counselors (MHCs)
- Psychiatrists & Psych techs
- Occupational Therapists (OTs)
- Social Workers
- Unit Coordinators
- EMR system: Epic
- Academic hospital environment (Mass General Brigham system)
- Board Certified in Psychiatry (required)
- Active Massachusetts medical license required
- DEA required
- Minimum 1 year of inpatient psychiatry experience required
- Epic experience required
- No willingness to license
- Must provide name & NPI for credentialing
- High-acuity inpatient psychiatric practice
- Strong interdisciplinary team support
- Academic teaching hospital environment
- Predictable patient volume ( 8 patients/day)
- No call responsibilities
