Specialty: Orthopedic Surgery - Shoulder & Elbow Position Summary The ASES Sponsored Orthopedic Shoulder Fellowship at Paley Instituted is a one?year advanced training program designed to provide comprehensive clinical, surgical, and academic exposure to the full spectrum of shoulder and elbow pathology. The fellow will work closely with fellowship?trained attending surgeons to develop high?level expertise in diagnosis, surgical management, perioperative care, and outcomes research related to shoulder and elbow disorders. This position is intended for orthopedic surgeons seeking subspecialty training in shoulder and elbow surgery in preparation for academic or high?volume clinical practice. Fellowship Training Objectives The fellowship aims to:
- Develop advanced surgical skills in shoulder and elbow procedures
- Enhance clinical decision?making for complex upper extremity pathology
- Provide exposure to both operative and non?operative management strategies
- Promote scholarly activity, research, and teaching
- Prepare the fellow for independent subspecialty practice
- Evaluate and manage patients with shoulder and elbow conditions in outpatient and inpatient settings
- Participate in elective and trauma surgical cases under attending supervision
- Perform advanced shoulder and elbow procedures with graduated autonomy
- Provide perioperative care, including preoperative planning and postoperative follow?up
- Participate in on?call coverage as assigned (commensurate with training level)
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physical therapy, sports medicine, rheumatology, and radiology
- Arthroscopic shoulder surgery (rotator cuff repair, instability, labral repair)
- Open and arthroscopic shoulder reconstruction
- Shoulder arthroplasty (anatomic, reverse, revision)
- Elbow arthroscopy and reconstruction
- Treatment of fractures and trauma involving the shoulder and elbow
- Management of complex and revision cases
- Participate in clinical research and/or outcomes?based studies
- Prepare and submit at least one manuscript for publication or presentation
- Participate in departmental conferences, journal clubs, and teaching activities
- Present cases and research findings at institutional or regional conferences
- Assist in teaching residents and medical students
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
- Completion of an ACGME?accredited orthopedic surgery residency prior to August 2027
- Eligibility for medical licensure in FL
- Board Eligible / Board Certified
- Strong interest in shoulder and elbow subspecialty practice
- Prior research or publications in orthopedic surgery or sports medicine
- Demonstrated interest in academic or teaching roles
