Job Title: Controls Engineer
Indianapolis, IN
8AM-5PM - Monday-Friday
$90,000-$110,000/year

Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Controls Engineer to design, develop, and maintain automation and control systems within our manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for improving system performance, ensuring equipment reliability, and supporting production efficiency through innovative control solutions.

Key Responsibilities

* Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for manufacturing equipment
* Develop and maintain electrical control schematics and documentation
* Integrate automation systems including robotics, motion control, and sensors
* Support installation, commissioning, and startup of new equipment and production lines
* Diagnose and resolve control system issues to minimize downtime
* Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to improve processes
* Implement continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and efficiency
* Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and company policies
* Provide technical support and training to maintenance and operations personnel
* Manage projects, timelines, and vendor coordination as needed

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics , or related field (or equivalent experience)
* 3+ years of experience in manufacturing automation or controls engineering
* Strong knowledge of PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar)
* Experience with HMI/SCADA systems (FactoryTalk, WinCC, Ignition, etc.)
* Ability to read and create electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
* Familiarity with industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, Profibus, Modbus, etc.)
* Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience with robotics integration (Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, etc.)
* Knowledge of motion control systems (servos, VFDs, drives)
* Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments (automotive, aerospace, stamping, etc.)
* Understanding of safety systems (PL, SIL, safety PLCs)
* Six Sigma or continuous improvement experience
