Overview

Under general supervision and reporting to Operations Leadership, the Senior Supplier Quality Engineer serves as a vital link between TRIGO ADR and our Prime Aerospace or Defense customers. The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer is a hands-on role that will identify, drive, and manage projects to improve delivery, quality and cost performance within the supply chain. The activities are focused on product and process performance for all production including New Programs, Current Production and Legacy, providing the link between Group Quality, Procurement and Supplier interactions with all relevant functions as required. The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer will ensure day-to-day project execution and coordination at the supplier. The role is responsible for the development of our supplier base and will utilize expertise in Quality, Purchasing, and Operations and will be deployed to our suppliers to ensure continuous improvement of their operations and containment of issues.

Responsibilities

Leadership and Management: Guide and lead a production team in the assembly and testing of electronic and/or mechanical products
Performance Accountability: Take full ownership of safety, quality, schedule, and cost performance for a multi-cell/multi-shift operation
Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities using Six Sigma and Lean methodologies
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Interact daily with other functions such as technical support, engineering, facilities, production control, and finance to meet organizational goals; strategic planning: develop and implement strategic plans, including creating current and future state value stream maps
Customer and Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring customer satisfaction and program deliverables
Lead MRB activities to achieve optimal disposition of non-conforming material and ensure that adequate corrective actions are implemented
Perform on-site supplier visits/audits, assess suppliers’ manufacturing and quality processes; develop root cause analysis and verification of corrective actions of supplier quality issues
Develop and maintain detailed and accurate reporting of supplier performance and quality improvement progress. Report weekly and monthly on supplier progress to meet customer expectations
Performs other duties as assigned

Required Skills

8+ years of hands-on experience as a Quality Engineer in an Aerospace Manufacturing Environment
5-8 years of FAI experience with AS9102 (FAI) standards at a quality engineering level
Strong understanding of Engineering Processes, Standard Drawings Conventions, Interpreting Drawings, Specifications, and GD&T
5-8 years of hands-on experience with ISO 9001 and AS9100 Quality Management Systems in Production, Quality, and Logistics
Knowledge of or hands-on experience with FAA, EAR, and ITAR standards and regulations
Experience leading customer audits
Strong verbal, written and communication skills
Project management, time management, problem solving and organization
Ability to work as an effective team member and lead other team members
Performs other duties as assigned

Additional Qualifications (Preferred)

Quality Management Systems (QMS) and QMS auditing
Process Improvement and toolbox processes (DFMEA, PFMEA, MSA, SPC, PPAP, APQP, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, TAKT, 5Why, 8D, Poka-Yoke, etc.)
IPC-600, IPC-610, IPC-620 as applicable dependent on supplier base
Aerospace quality, engineering, and manufacturing
ITAR standards and regulations; USG FAR and DFAR
Quality metrology functions (gage calibration / verification process)
Quality containment activities (MRB, quality walls, Return to green plans, Gantt charts)
Engineering Processes, GD&T understanding
Risk registries or similar forms
MS Office proficiency
Robust team leadership, mentoring, employee development
Professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail
Strong independent decision-making, analytical skills and professional judgment
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Extensive technical aptitude
Strong organizational skills
Ability to communicate and present to senior management
Business acumen

General Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or similar technical discipline; master’s degree preferred
Manufacturing Quality Experience 20+ years
Aerospace experience required 15+ years
Quality Management System development and implementation
Supply chain management and supplier development experience
Program / Project Management experience
10+ years FAI experience with AS9102 Protocol
Hands-on inspection experience and ability to use basic inspection tools and equipment
Working knowledge of inspection methods, techniques, and protocols
Strong understanding of Engineering Mechanical Processes, Standard Drawings Conventions, Interpreting Drawings, Specifications and GD&T

Additional Qualifications (Preferred) – Additional Responsibilities

Present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees
Supervise, direct, and motivate others
Manage / Lead manufacturing readiness audits
Manage / Lead process improvement activities
Lead risk assessments and mitigation activities
Direct the establishment of quality walls or other containment mechanisms
Steer / guide training improvement and implementation
Read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memo
Prioritize and escalate matters to leadership as appropriate
Ensure proper authorization and documentation for disbursements
Maintain confidentiality of company documents and records
Establish and maintain effective working relationships
Pass pre-hire background check

Working Conditions

Productivity: Incumbents must perform work efficiently with minimal direction. Mobility: light lifting and sitting for prolonged periods. Vision: sufficient to read documents and screens. Environment: typical office conditions, working with Quality management team and external customers. Hours: typically Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; overtime may be required. Physical: occasional lifting up to 20 pounds; various motions and movements; travel to suppliers as needed. Noise level: moderate to high.

Pay Range

$95,000 to $120,000 annually. Salary information is a guideline based on factors including scope, experience, education, skills, internal equity, market and business considerations.
