
Transportation Engineer

Position Summary
Gather and analyze transportation data, including traffic, safety, climate, pavement, and operations, to develop and calibrate simulation and statistical models, perform cost and performance analyses, and generate key transportation metrics.
Responsibilities
Collect and analyze transportation data related to traffic, safety, climate, pavement, and operations
Develop, calibrate, and validate micro‑simulation and statistical models to assess system performance
Conduct transportation analytics, cost research, and develop performance metrics
Create automated data frameworks, ensure data quality, and manage databases for post‑processing
Design and support machine learning models and analytical pipelines using transportation datasets; Summarize model outputs (e.g., travel time, speed, vehicle count) and visualize findings using tools such as Power BI; Prepare technical reports, studies, and proposals summarizing analyses, conclusions, and recommendations
Maintain and support SQL or open‑source databases for data management and research
Evaluate transportation processes to identify inefficiencies and recommend data‑driven improvements
Contribute to research, development, and technical studies on transportation systems and emerging technologies.
Requirements
Minimum a Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation Engineering or Civil Engineering related field.
Proficiency in programming languages, including Python, SQL, and R
Strong data visualization skills in BI software such as Tableau and Power BI
Solid skills in machine learning, data analysis, and data management
Knowledge of transportation systems and system‑based design and analysis
