Sonepar is seeking a
Sales Tax Analyst II
to join our Tax team. This role supports ongoing Sales Tax compliance activities across multiple states and legal entities and is ideal for an experienced tax professional who enjoys combining technical tax work with process improvement and crossfunctional collaboration.The ideal candidate brings prior experience in Sales & Use Tax compliance and exercises independent judgment in preparing returns, troubleshooting filing issues, and responding to internal tax questions.

What You'll Do
Prepare and reconcile monthly Sales and Use Tax returns for multiple states and legal entities in accordance with state and local filing requirements
Research and apply state and local tax regulations, including taxability and exemption determinations
Review and resolve tax adjustments and corrections on customer invoices
Maintain accurate tax workpapers, documentation, and exemption certificates for audit retention
Troubleshoot electronic filing and payment issues across tax compliance platforms
Support onboarding of new legal entities into tax engines and preparation software
Respond to taxrelated inquiries from nontax partners across the business
Document and enhance Sales and Use Tax processes, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
Adapt to new systems, priorities, and regulatory changes with curiosity and a solutionsoriented mindset
Perform additional duties as assigned in alignment with company policies and standards
What We're Looking For
Education
Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Tax, Accounting, Finance, or Information Technology (required)
Experience
At least 2 years of relevant experience in Sales & Use Tax, accounting, tax compliance, or related functions
Demonstrated experience preparing and reconciling Sales and Use Tax returns
Experience working with enterprise systems and tax compliance platforms
Technical Skills
Experience with
tax compliance systems such as Vertex or Avalara
Strong Excel skills with the ability to validate, reconcile, and analyze data
Comfort working with ERP systems and integrated tax engines
Ability to troubleshoot system or data issues independently
Familiarity with tax research tools (e.g., CCH AnswerConnect) preferred
Bonus: exposure to SQL, data queries, or system configuration logic
Professional Skills
Detailoriented with strong analytical and problemsolving skills
Able to exercise sound judgment and manage work independently
Communicates clearly and effectively with technical and nontechnical partners
Comfortable working in a collaborative, fastpaced environment
Demonstrates curiosity, accountability, and a continuousimprovement mindset
