The Maritime System Division (MSD) of Leidos’ is seeking a Deputy Project Manager in the Long Beach, MS facility in a growing, fast‑paced environment.
As the DPM, you will partner closely with the Project Manager (PM) to support day‑to‑day execution of program operations. You will help drive program performance, coordinate across functional teams, and ensure alignment with customer priorities in a fast‑paced, production environment. In the absence of the PM, the DPM is expected to assume delegated program management authority and serve as the primary decision‑maker and customer interface to ensure continuity of operations.
Primary Responsibilities
Support the Program Manager in directing day‑to‑day program operations, ensuring production schedules, mission deliverables, and performance standards are consistently met.
Assist in managing cost, schedule, performance, and risk across all program elements, including systems, tools, equipment, software, facilities, and operational activities.
Lead coordination of program deliverables, schedules, and milestones across teams.
Identify, assess, and support mitigation of program risks while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Monitor task progress, identify risks/issues, and drive timely resolution of blockers
Facilitate internal and external meetings, including Technical Exchange Meetings (TEMs)
Prepare and deliver program status reports, briefings, and customer‑facing updates.
Represent the program in customer engagements as needed, communicating status, risks, and mitigation strategies.
Maintain and update program artifacts, including the risk register and action trackers.
Support development of program reviews, roadmaps, staffing plans, and other deliverables.
Serve as acting PM when required, with authority to make program‑level decisions, manage priorities, and interface directly with the customer
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with at least 6-8 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Experience supporting cross‑functional technical teams.
Coordinate and resolve production‑related issues, ensuring timely and accurate solutions that support mission success.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and collaboration tools.
Individuals must possess strong characteristics around initiative, attitude, assertiveness and sense of urgency.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Must be a US Citizen and meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) Secret Clearance.
Experience generating cost estimates for material and labor.
Microsoft Project or other scheduling experience.
Preferred Experience
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
Experience working in an ISO9001 environment.
Prior experience in a Deputy PM, Task Lead, or PMO leadership role
Prior experience in an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or Materials Resource Planning (MRP) Environment.
Pay Range
Pay Range $73,450.00 - $132,775.00
