Position Summary
The Quality Coordinator is responsible for overseeing quality assurance and quality control activities related to the design, construction, testing, and commissioning of high-voltage substation infrastructure. This role ensures that engineering deliverables, construction activities, and system testing comply with applicable codes, project specifications, and industry standards. The coordinator works closely with engineering, construction, and commissioning teams to verify technical accuracy, support utility interconnection requirements, and ensure reliable system performance prior to energization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Administration of the MMR Project Quality Plan (PQP).

Develop and implement project quality plans and Quality Assurance processes to ensure consistent quality standards across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.

Coordinate with project managers, utilities, engineering teams, contractors, subcontractors, and third‑party inspectors to resolve quality issues, support project execution, and maintain alignment with project quality objectives.

Attend quality kick‑off and progress meetings as necessary.

Identify quality issues or non‑conformances, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective or preventive actions to mitigate risk and improve overall project quality performance.

Plan and perform internal and external quality audits, field inspections, and site visits to verify that high‑voltage construction and installation activities align with approved engineering documents, project specifications, and quality requirements.

Assist in the Subcontractor Prequalification Procedure as outlined in MMR’s Material and Equipment Procurement Plan.

Review provided drawings, specifications, approved RFIs and submittals for quality requirements.

Help coordinate the inspection and test plan (ITP) including audit, hold, monitor, and witness points, and ensure they are approved by client, owner, and engineer.

Coordinate and attend vendor, supplier, and safety training required to maintain regulatory compliance.

Must comply with all MMR procedures and policies and with all MMR safety and client safety protocols required on the jobsite.

Ensure compliance with applicable industry codes and standards including IEEE, NESC, NEC, ANSI, OSHA, and project‑specific regulatory or client requirements.

Must have the ability to travel to and from jobsite via personal vehicle or other forms of public transportation.

Qualifications/Experience/Skills

College degree, high school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and technical manuals pertaining to specifications and plans.

Eight years minimum experience physically installing electrical and/or instrumentation components, in addition to five years minimum experience as a QC Inspector or Senior QC Inspector verifying installations and testing.

Exception to the minimum years required if the applicant holds a state electrical license, NCCER certification (knowledge and performance), or MMR certification (successful completion of Baton Rouge Training Center).

Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred but not required.
