In your new role, you will:

Lead and inspire design teams

– Plan, organize, and mentor multidisciplinary teams of 5‑10+ design professionals, fostering collaboration and design excellence

Champion project delivery

– Ensure accuracy, quality, and design intent across all project deliverables and documentation

Cultivate client relationships

– Serve as the primary client liaison, building trust and long‑term strategic partnerships that generate repeat business and referrals

Drive fiscal accountability

– Lead decision‑making with full financial responsibility, managing project budgets, schedules, and profitability targets

Strategize and execute

– Develop comprehensive project work plans that balance design ambition with operational realities

Contribute to business growth

– Participate in proposal development, client presentations, interviews, and strategic business development initiatives

Ensure seamless communication

– Oversee all project correspondence, reports, documentation, and administrative functions

Solve complex challenges

– Apply deep knowledge of interior architecture and design principles to navigate technical, programmatic, and logistical complexities

Negotiate and manage contracts

– Draft, review, and negotiate client and consultant agreements

Collaborate firm‑wide

– Partner across NBBJ studios and disciplines to leverage diverse expertise and expand opportunities

Expand your network

– Develop and leverage client relationships to win new work and position NBBJ as the partner of choice

What you will need to succeed:

Experience

– 10‑15 years of professional experience in Interior Design or Interior Architecture, with demonstrated success managing large‑scale, complex projects for industry‑leading clients

Education

– Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture

Location

– Ability to work in‑person at NBBJ's Seattle office

Credentials

– NCIDQ Certification strongly preferred; LEED Accreditation required (or obtained within 18 months of hire)

Project expertise

– Proven track record managing projects through all phases—from pre‑design through construction administration—including contract negotiation, work plan development, and experience with diverse project delivery methodologies (Design‑Build, Design‑Bid‑Build, IPD, etc.)

Leadership excellence

– Outstanding communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire teams, manage client expectations, and build lasting relationships

Technical proficiency

– Strong skills in Microsoft suite (Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint); knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, SketchUp, Rhino, or 3DS Max highly desired; 3D modeling experience a plus

Organizational mastery

– Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects with competing priorities and tight deadlines while maintaining quality and attention to detail

Collaborative mindset

– Comfort working in a fast‑paced, collaborative, design‑focused environment with diverse, cross‑functional teams

Flexibility

– Willingness to travel as project needs require

Design passion

– Genuine enthusiasm for interior design and commitment to staying current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and sustainable design practices

The annual base pay range for this role is between $90,000 and $125,000. Actual compensation for successful candidates will be carefully determined based on a number of factors, including their skills, qualifications and experience.

This role requires the individual to be based in the United States.
