The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Gaming seeks an experienced professional to lead procurement activities to support day‑to‑day operations at three historic tourist attractions. In this role, you'll help ensure the timely purchase of goods, services, and equipment that keep Huronia Historical Park (HHP) sites operating and open to the public. HHP consists of three historic attractions (Sainte-Marie among the Hurons, Discovery Harbour, and Nancy Island).

Huronia Historical Parks (HHP) operates three of Ontario's leading cultural tourism destinations, Sainte Marie among the Hurons, Discovery Harbour, and Nancy Island, spanning three communities across Southern Georgian Bay and offering a diverse portfolio of experiences beyond traditional heritage interpretation.

Across its sites, HHP manages heritage assets, expansive parkland and outdoor recreation spaces, retail operations, rentals, overnight accommodations, and a growing network of private sector partners delivering theatre, food services, and specialized programming. This integrated mix of attractions, amenities, and commercial partnerships positions HHP as a dynamic multi‑site operator that drives tourism, supports regional economic development, and delivers high quality, market‑responsive visitor experiences.

In this role, you will:

Prepare and process procurement documents in line with government policies and procedures.

Research suppliers, request quotes or proposals, and evaluate bids for goods and services.

Review and process purchase requisitions, purchasing card transactions, and related records.

Coordinate fleet vehicles and maintain asset and inventory records.

Provide administrative and financial support, including correspondence and backup for accounts payable.

Information session: On Thursday April 23rd at 12pm the hiring manager will host an information session. Attendance is optional and will have no impact on hiring decisions.

What you bring to the team
Procurement Knowledge and Experience

Knowledge of procurement policies and processes, including tenders, requests for proposals, and requests for quotations.

Experience in purchasing a wide range of goods and services.

Ability to develop evaluation criteria, assess bids, and manage and reconcile purchasing card transactions.

Experience preparing complex procurement documents, contracts, and legal agreements.

Knowledge of asset management practices, including maintaining asset inventories.

Analytical and Organizational Skills

Review and analyze quotes, proposals, and tenders, identify issues, and make recommendations.

Manage multiple procurement activities and meet tight deadlines.

Communication and Customer Service Skills

Prepare clear and accurate procurement documents.

Respond to vendor inquiries and work effectively with staff and stakeholders.

Participate in and support meetings.

Computer and Mathematical Skills

Use computer systems to track purchase orders and prepare procurement documents and spreadsheets.

Evaluate pricing to ensure the best value for money and reconcile financial records.

What we offer
The individual is expected to be on‑site five days a week. HHP sites are open seven days a week during peak season and sporadically throughout the off‑season. The role also requires weekend, evening, and night work based on operational needs.

The Nancy Island Historic Site located in Wasaga Beach is a nationally significant location commemorating the War of 1812 and the heroic battle of HMS Nancy. This site offers immersive historical experiences, including costumed interpreters, hands‑on demonstrations, and a replica 19th‑century lighthouse with stunning views of Wasaga Beach.

Sainte-Marie among the Hurons in Midland (1639‑1649) is a reconstruction of the 17th‑century headquarters of the French Jesuit mission to the Huron people. It was the first European community in Ontario and home to six of the eight North American Jesuit martyrs.

Discovery Harbour in Penetanguishene represents the period from 1817 to 1856 when the Royal Navy and the British Army maintained a naval dockyard and military garrison at this strategic defense station on Georgian Bay. Discovery Harbour is the home of replica vessels and the King's Wharf Theatre offers professional summer theatre.
