Position Overview
The Retail Manager is responsible for the efficient and profitable operation of the retail section of the roadhouse, including fuel sales, convenience store operations, customer service, stock control, staff supervision, compliance, and financial performance. This role oversees the day‑to‑day retail management of the site to ensure efficient operations and high service standards for travelers and local customers.
Key responsibilities include:
Overseeing daily retail operations across the fuel forecourt, convenience store, and associated retail areas
Supervising, training, rostering, and supporting staff
Managing stock levels, ordering supplies, and coordinating deliveries
Monitoring product pricing, displays, and merchandising standards
Managing cash handling, point‑of‑sale operations, reconciliations, and banking
Handling customer enquiries, complaints, and service issues professionally
Monitoring sales performance, costs, and margins to support business targets
Maintaining a clean, safe, and well‑presented retail environment
Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety requirements and other relevant operational standards
Liaising with suppliers and service providers as required for smooth business operations
Skills and experience required:
At least 1-2 years of relevant full‑time experience in retail management, service station operations, or convenience store management
Strong leadership and staff supervision skills
Experience in stock control, customer service, and sales monitoring
Sound organizational, problem‑solving, and administrative skills
Good communication skills and a professional attitude
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays
Personal attributes:
Reliable and responsible

Strong attention to detail
Able to work effectively under pressure
Willing to work in a regional location
