Position Description
ACADEMIC SURGICAL PATHOLOGIST

in the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at the University of Louisville, Louisville, Kentucky. The department is in a period of growth and seeks a full-time academic surgical pathologist. The position may be filled at 0.8 to 1.0 FTE and offers scheduling flexibility. Leadership opportunities may be available, commensurate with the candidate’s expertise and qualifications.

Candidates should have a strong academic focus, including scholarly activities and participation in graduate and undergraduate medical education. Fellowship training in or a strong, proven interest in one or more specialty areas will be considered. Prior training or expertise in medical renal, thoracic/lung, gynecologic, head and neck, bone & soft tissue, cytopathology, or dermatopathology will be prioritized. Experience in an academic setting, a record of educational and research achievements, and a portfolio of publications are desirable. Candidates must be board certified in anatomic or combined anatomic and clinical pathology and be qualified for an unrestricted medical license in Kentucky. Academic rank will reflect experience, qualifications, and achievements.

The department is a leader in digital pathology and artificial intelligence, supporting a fully digital clinical workflow that offers remote access. It also houses state‑of‑the‑art research and diagnostic laboratories and core molecular diagnostic facilities. This supports residents and faculty with modern technologies and collaborative research opportunities.
