Boeing Test & Evaluation Electromagnetics (BT&E) is seeking a

Lead Electromagnetic Software Engineer

to join our team in

Berkeley, MO , as part of a broad, multi-site engineering capability. The Midwest Electromagnetics Test Labs team is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) who will lead the software group within our discipline.

The successful candidate should be familiar with test automation frameworks and coding in C# and C++, should be a proactive learner of advancing technologies, and work closely with the team to ensure high coding standards are maintained. The position will involve building and maintaining our automation test suite and framework (some legacy code) and manual testing as required. The candidate must also maintain a disciplined approach to configuration management, develop a vision for our software‑hardware automation convention, and exemplify an open and receptive software team leadership model.

Software engineers are responsible for developing software and software tests throughout all phases of the software development life cycle (requirements, architecture, implementation, and verification). The software engineer will develop software in a Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) build pipeline using an agile methodology focused on code quality, security, and automation. The candidate will also support projects to improve and incorporate new capabilities in the Electromagnetics lab areas.

This position requires up to 10% travel to support partner‑site activities.

Responsibilities

Contribute to all phases of the software development life cycle (requirements, architecture, implementation, and verification)

Work with small laboratory teams composed of diverse engineering skills to tackle complex problems on a variety of projects and features

Develop technical products, plans, documentation, and briefings in support of program requirements

Provide expertise on software methodologies and processes to internal/external customers

Help resolve programmatic and technical problems that would impact cost, schedule, and/or performance

Develop and maintain software design practices across program spaces

Troubleshoot and investigate problems across software components

Maintain and organize detailed statement of work from internal/external customers

Supervise a small team of software engineers, balance workload, and assign tasks based on engineering capability priority

Provide data, recommendations, estimates labor costs, and development schedules for project planning

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

Experience with C/C++, Python, or C#

Experience with software configuration management

8+ years of experience delivering software solutions to production environments and writing quality, production‑ready code

3+ years’ experience leading software teams and/or projects

Ability to travel up to 10%

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science

Experience and/or coursework in Electromagnetic Theory, Transmission Line Theory, and/or Antenna Theory

Robotics and automation design, programming, and build experience

Experience or familiarity with laboratory test equipment (Vector Network Analyzer, etc.)

Experience in a test laboratory environment

Embedded code experience

Experience leveraging AI‑driven software solutions

Experience defining, writing, managing, and controlling processes for a software organization or team

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. Summary pay range: $136,850 - $185,150. Additional Requirements
U.S. Person required to meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. The position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Secret) and program access. Employer will not sponsor employment visa status. Position is 1st shift.
