The PARC is a 24/7 animal hospital providing wellness and emergency care. The Veterinary Technician will support high‑acuity ICU patients and contribute to outpatient treatments and laboratory work.
Qualifications
Minimum 2+ years clinical experience in an Emergency and/or Intensive Care setting
ECC/CVT/LVT/RVT qualifications encouraged
Advanced nursing care for hospitalized ICU patients
Continuous monitoring of critical patients: BP, ECG, SpO₂, EtCO₂ and recognition of subtle clinical changes
Experience managing CRI’s, multimodal drug infusions, and complex fluid therapy with strong medical‑math skills
Understanding of disease progression, treatment plans, and medication protocols for critically ill patients
Central line and NG tube placement and maintenance, long‑term catheter care, and infection‑control best practices
Supporting high‑risk anesthesia cases (ASA III‑V preferred) and prolonged post‑operative recovery
Assisting with advanced procedures and specialty surgeries
Strong documentation skills: accurate medical records, trend tracking, shift‑to‑shift continuity
Collaboration with veterinarians and multidisciplinary teams on evolving treatment plans
Mentoring ER technicians, assistants, or developing ICU staff
Calm, focused and professional in emotionally intense, high‑stress ICU environments
Willingness to guide, mentor and support team members
Responsibilities
Provide advanced ICU nursing care for hospitalized high‑acuity patients
Monitor and interpret patient data (BP, ECG, SpO₂, EtCO₂), trend vitals, labs, fluid balance, and pain scores to support timely medical decisions
Manage CRIs, multimodal drug infusions and complex fluid therapy using medical‑math skills
Perform and maintain central lines, NG tubes and long‑term catheters while adhering to strict infection‑control protocols
Support high‑risk anesthesia cases and prolonged post‑operative and critical recovery care
Assist veterinarians with advanced procedures and specialty surgeries under the Veterinary Practice Act
Maintain accurate, thorough medical records and ensure clear shift‑to‑shift communication and case continuity
Collaborate with veterinarians and the medical team to support evolving treatment plans and positive patient flow
Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients regarding patient status, medications, and treatment plans
Utilize safe restraint techniques and maintain clean, organized sterile ICU, treatment and exam areas
Mentor and support ER technicians, assistants and developing ICU staff while maintaining calm focus in emotionally intense cases
