DESCRIPTION
The position integrates into the clinical, teaching, research, and distribution system for UC San Diego Health and the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Responsibilities include profile review, TPN order writing, pharmacokinetics, renal drug dosing, medication reconciliation, chemotherapy order review and entry in the Beacon Chemotherapy EMR, precepting pharmacy students and residents, investigational drug support, and other activities to optimize drug therapy outcomes.

Under general supervision, the pharmacist is responsible for the provision and documentation of medications and related services to patients, according to departmental standards. The pharmacist will serve as preceptor to assigned pharmacy residents and students, participate in medical center and departmental committees, and promote institution‑wide medication use policy.

Position level depends on experience: less than 4 years qualifies for Staff Pharmacy I; 4+ years for Staff Pharmacy II.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Doctorate of Pharmacy degree or equivalent clinical experience.

Registered Pharmacist issued by the state of California (RPH).

Pharmacy residency or equivalent clinical experience.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on‑call, and locations based on the 24‑hour Medical Center’s business needs.

Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre‑employment physical.

PAY INFORMATION
Annual Full Pay Range: $183,138 - $186,834 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $87.71 - $89.48

Factors influencing compensation include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced is the budgeted salary or hourly range the University reasonably expects. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what is anticipated.
