Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) - Emergency/Critical Care

What You’ll Do Under The Supervision Of DVMs

Foster a culture built on our values: Respect, Learning, Do the Right Thing, WOW Service, and Fun.

Provide professional, efficient, quality medical care and exceptional service to clients while maintaining maximum productivity.

Provide updates to clients for hospitalized patients as directed by the DVM.

Discharge hospitalized patients with demonstrations of insulin administration, esophagostomy tube feeding/maintenance, subcutaneous fluids, and Freestyle Libre use.

Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for patients.

Restrain patients using fear-free techniques.

Obtain and prepare samples (blood, urine, fecal) for diagnostic testing; perform in-house IDEXX laboratory tests.

Educate clients about pet health needs, nutrition, and preventative care.

Fill controlled and non-controlled prescriptions following Washington State laws.

Administer medications via appropriate routes following the Five Rights of Medication Administration.

Place intravenous and urinary catheters and perform venipuncture.

Perform CPR following RECOVER guidelines; monitor ICU patients and critical care patients.

Place nasogastric tubes, central lines, nasal cannulas, and PICC lines as applicable.

Administer and monitor transfusions; perform ultrasound-guided cystocentesis.

Demonstrate critical thinking in a fast-paced ICU environment and maintain patient cleanliness and equipment.

Document care accurately using Cornerstone and Instinct.

Monitor hospitalized patients for changes in vitals or mentation and notify the DVM as needed.

Enteral and parenteral medication administration.

Support a collaborative practice environment to deliver quality, compassionate, effective care.

Comply with practice policies, QA guidelines, and standards of care.

Perform other duties as requested.

Education
Associate degree from a two-year veterinary technology program with accreditation from the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).

Professional Licenses/Certifications

Successful completion of the Veterinary Technician National Examination (AAVSB) when required by the state.

Current Washington State Veterinary Technician License with credential in good standing.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Ability to handle and maintain sensitive information with discretion.

Knowledge of veterinary hospital practices and procedures.

Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.

Professional, caring, compassionate communication with clients and staff.

Knowledge of drugs used in veterinary practice; familiarity with medical equipment and terminology.

Basic proficiency with computer programs including Microsoft Word/Excel and practice management software (PIMS).

Strong written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills.

Understanding of physiology and pharmacology relevant to patient care.

Ability to adapt to a changing environment and communicate clearly in stressful situations.

Schedule Availability

Full-time and part-time positions available

12-hour shifts and 10-hour shifts

Shift Differential

Mon-Fri evenings 7pm-7am: $1.50/hour

Sat-Sun days 7am-7pm: $1.50/hour

Sat-Sun evenings 7pm-7am: $3.00/hour

Supervisory LVT roles are available at $40–$42/hour.

Compensation Range
