Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA, is hiring a Clinical Dietitian. This is a Flexi Day shift position.
Responsible for identification, diagnosis, and prevention of malnutrition in accordance with the medical staff approved clinical practice standards, including nutrition-focused physical exams. Attends multidisciplinary rounds, participates in performance improvement, and serves as a resource for nutrition-related matters for patients, families, members of the medical staff and multidisciplinary team.

Performs comprehensive nutrition assessment within department-approved time frames and documents within those time frames. Performs nutrition-focused physical exam when appropriate. Performs malnutrition diagnosis in accordance with ASPEN/AND criteria and documents accordingly in EMR. Follow-up per department policy time frames. Participates in multidisciplinary patient-focused meetings, including MDRs and ICU rounds. Meets expectations by providing evidence of working with multidisciplinary teams in direct patient care, and delivers patient/family and staff education.

BLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

Registered Dietitian (RD) should be obtained within 6 months of hire. Verification statements required for those candidates awaiting RD credentialing.

If a Bachelor's Degree is in a major other than Dietetics, the candidate must complete an Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) accredited didactic program in Dietetics.

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree (Required). If a Bachelor's Degree is in a major other than Dietetics, completion of an ACEND accredited didactic program in Dietetics is required.

Certification/Licensure:
BLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
