WAVY Unpaid Newsroom Intern, Summer 2026
WAVY-TV 10/WVBT FOX43 is searching for a dynamic NEWSROOM INTERN who wants to gain experience in a newsroom. Responsibilities include:
Working the assignment desk.
Assisting producers with writing and prep for newscasts.
Working with editors to prep newscasts.
Working with photographers and reporters in the newsroom and in the field—including shooting, editing and prep for final on‑air stories.
Position Details
*This is an UNPAID / FOR‑CREDIT position for the Summer semester 2026 only.*
The successful candidate must have a willingness to learn the inner workings of a local newsroom and how all departments in a TV station work to support each other. Before beginning, the intern
must be
enrolled in a college degree‑granting program and
will be required
to show proof of enrollment in an internship course within that program.
Qualifications
Completed journalism courses.
Understands journalistic integrity and has passion for the field.
Familiarity with newswriting software, shooting video for news, and working knowledge of video editing software preferred but not required.
Include relevant coursework in resume/application.
Hours & Schedule
12‑15 hours per week on site. Ability to work a varying schedule Sunday through Saturday; days and times will vary and be set in agreement with supervisor.
