In the heart of East London, home of Billingsgate fish market, E Pellicci’s cafe and the Columbia Road Flower Market sits our very popular Plaistow practice, and they are looking for an additional RVN to join their team on a full-time basis.
About your new role!
Our new team member will be no stranger to fast paced GP branch life, building rapport with clients their beloved animals. You will be working alongside an energetic team including 1–2 vets, senior RVN, and enthusiastic trainee nurses.
This role is full-time Monday to Friday and includes a 1:4 branch Saturday and 1:10 Wanstead Hospital Sunday rotation with TOIL. You will be rota'd to 1 or 2 bank holidays per annum in Wanstead. There are no on-call requirements for this position.
Our Plaistow practice has supported the local community for years, providing invaluable diagnostic and surgical care, and being ISFM accredited they have a passion for feline welfare. As well as plenty of opportunity for an RVN who enjoys conducting nurse consults, with a large surgical caseload there will also be ample GA exposure.
Facilities on site include digital x-ray, dental x-ray and ultrasound. For anything more advanced the practice is supported by Wanstead 24‑hour hospital, for internal referrals or OOH care and hospitalisation.
As a branch RVN some of your duties will include:
Ensure the provision of a high quality and continually improving standard of nursing care.
Assist the veterinary surgeon in theatre and during consultations, as and when required.
Maintain comprehensive patient hospitalisation records.
Ensure a high standard of comfort and welfare for all pets in our care.
Complete and maintain accurate records of hospitalised patients.
Maintain a respectful and collaborative team environment.
Ensure equipment is cleaned, packed, sterilised and stored correctly when not in use.
Maintain adequate stocks of drugs, diets and consumables and place orders with our suppliers to required levels as necessary.
Assist with the induction of new staff and their subsequent training.
Provide reception duties, as required, ensuring a friendly and efficient handling of clients and their pets, in person, by email and over the telephone.
Support student nurses as a clinical supervisor.
What we offer you
The salary for this RVN position is £32,000 to £36,000 per annum depending on experience and allowing room for growth within the role.
