Sandstone Animal Hospital is looking for a Veterinary Assistant to help care for animals while supporting veterinarians, technicians, and the facility. We are a small practice that is privately owned allowing us to bond with our clients and patients. We love our community and provide quality care to pets. Responsibilities
Assist the veterinarian and technicians in examinations and operations, ensuring safe and compassionate care.
Properly restrain dogs and cats to prevent injury to humans while keeping the animal safe.
Communicate empathetically and compassionately with clients, and document medical records accurately.
Contribute to the smooth operation of the facility and support ongoing learning in veterinary medicine.
Help create a positive work environment to support practice goals.

Required Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED
Previous experience or training/education in a veterinary facility is required.
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Friendly, outgoing, and people oriented.
Excellent communications skills.
Telephone and computer skills are necessary.
Ability to retain information.
Observant with attention to detail.
Typing, spelling, reading, and ability to follow through with directions.
Basic math skills.
Team player willing to learn new techniques, new treatments, and to accept change as we can not grow without it.
Physical Requirements and Expectations
Dependable attendance and punctuality are required.
Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
Ability to walk, bend, stand, use stairs, and reach constantly during a minimum 4 hour day.
Exposure to loud noises, smells, bodily eliminations/ fluids, and zoonotic diseases.
