The hourly rate for this position is $18.00/hour. This is an Hourly position.
Overview
This internship will require the student to work onsite during their school semester(s) in Evergreen Park at OSF Little Company of Mary Medical Center.
Student will work Monday-Friday: 7:30am-4:00pm (work schedule can be worked around school schedule while school is in session) Student may be able to add on to their work schedule during breaks from school and summer.
Position Summary
As a Biomedical Equipment Services Intern you will work alongside a team comprised of multiple levels of Biomedical Equipment Service Technicians in one of OSF HealthCare’s nationally recognized medical centers. The real world experience gained by assisting and performing hands‑on repairs and maintenance of medical devices during your internship will supplement your ongoing education.
Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of an experienced Biomedical Equipment Services Technician, perform and document equipment incoming acceptance inspections.
Under the direct supervision of an experienced Biomedical Equipment Services Technician, complete and document scheduled maintenance on medical equipment.
Under the direct supervision of an experienced Biomedical Equipment Services Technician, troubleshoot, repair medical equipment and document activities.
Under the supervision of an experienced Biomedical Equipment Services Technician, Supervisor or Manager, document all service and maintenance related activities using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Under the supervision of an experienced Biomedical Equipment Services Technician, Supervisor or Manager, conduct rounds throughout the hospital.
Become familiar, and act in accordance with applicable Federal, State and Local regulations governing the repair and maintenance of medical devices.
Represent the Department of Clinical Engineering & Biomedical Equipment Services in a compassionate, professional manner to all patients, guests and OSF Healthcare Mission.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in, and having completed the first year of an Associates Degree program for Biomedical Equipment Repair, Electronics or other related field OR Currently enrolled in, and completed the second year of a Bachelors Degree program for Biomedical Equipment Repair, Electronics or other related field.
Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office applications.
