Job Description
The Sheet Metal Mechanic installs, measures, cuts, and assembles galvanized and double‑wall sheet metal ductwork in a commercial and industrial setting. This role involves working on an Air Force Base, using hand and power tools to install duct systems and hang VAV boxes as part of HVAC installations. The position offers long‑term, steady work on a current project with additional projects scheduled afterward.
Responsibilities
Install galvanized and double‑wall sheet metal ductwork according to project specifications and drawings.
Measure, cut, and fit sheet metal duct to ensure accurate and secure installation.
Hang and install VAV (Variable Air Volume) boxes as part of HVAC systems.
Use a variety of hand tools and power tools safely and effectively during installation and assembly.
Install duct hangers and supports to secure ductwork in place.
Work as part of a construction team on an Air Force Base, following all site rules and safety protocols.
Coordinate with other trades and team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely project completion.
Inspect completed work to confirm alignment, fit, and quality of duct installations.
Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
Follow all safety procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Melbourne, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr.
