Job Overview
Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position of

Victim Advocate

within the Prosecutor's Office. This role provides information and support services to victims of crime and acts as a liaison between the victim and the Prosecutor's Office. The Victim Advocate notifies victims of their Constitutional Victims' Rights throughout the criminal justice process, accompanies them to court proceedings, and assists with case information, advocacy, and connecting victims with appropriate resources.

Responsibilities

Assist victims in obtaining protective orders and coordinate service efforts.

Assist victims based on their own safety plans.

Notify victims of their right to request restitution and the right to be heard through a Victim Impact Statement.

Review documents, prepare court filings, and facilitate the delivery of Victim Impact Statements to the court.

Provide criminal justice support and advocacy, including accompaniment to court, preparation for trials/hearings, explaining plea offers, and advising victims of their rights through all stages of a criminal case.

Perform crisis intervention by assessing immediate needs and providing emotional support, guidance, and appropriate resources.

Determine which victim rights apply at each stage of a case, provide information on court processes, and ensure rights are invoked.

Examine each case for safety issues, lethality, medical needs, and restitution requirements.

Obtain vital information to determine release or sentencing conditions and review lethality assessments in domestic violence cases.

Perform safety planning and build relationships with victim service providers.

Maintain electronic case files, update events, review work queues, and provide case notes for Prosecutor review.

Represent the Town on Boards or at meetings related to victim services and victim rights.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Social Sciences, Human Services, Psychology, or a related field.

Three years of customer service experience.

One year of experience in case management and Victims' Rights.

Valid Arizona Driver's License.

Completion of the National Victim Assistance Academy (NVAA) or a state academy (preferred).

This position is an At-Will, FLSA Non-Exempt role eligible for overtime compensation.
