Your Role at KIK
The Chemical Operator 3 or Tank Farm Lead is responsible for safely overseeing and executing all chlorine unloading, storage, and handling operations within the tank farm. This role ensures strict compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations while maintaining efficient material flow to support production. The Lead provides hands‑on direction to operators, coordinates logistics, and drives continuous improvement in a high‑hazard chemical environment.
What You’ll Do
Lead and perform the safe offloading of chlorine from railcars, tankers, or other delivery systems, ensuring adherence to all established procedures and safety protocols.
Maintain full compliance with OSHA, EPA, DHS, and other applicable regulations, including Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plan (RMP) requirements. Enforce strict adherence to PPE and safety procedures.
Oversee daily tank farm activities including storage, transfer, and inventory management of chlorine and related chemicals.
Serve as a first responder for chlorine‑related incidents, ensuring proper execution of emergency procedures, leak response, and evacuation protocols.
Coordinate inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs of tanks, piping, valves, scrubbers, and monitoring systems to ensure safe and reliable operations.
Track and reconcile chlorine inventory levels. Ensure accurate completion of logs, manifests, inspection reports, and compliance documentation.
Provide daily direction, training, and coaching to tank farm operators. Reinforce a strong safety culture and ensure all team members are properly trained and qualified.
Identify opportunities to improve safety, efficiency, and reliability of chlorine handling and tank farm operations.
Work closely with production, maintenance, EHS, and logistics teams to ensure uninterrupted operations and alignment on priorities.
Supervise contractors performing work in the tank farm area, ensuring compliance with site safety requirements.
What You’ll Bring
High School Diploma or GED required
3 or more years
of experience in chemical manufacturing, tank farm operations, or hazardous material handling
Direct experience with chlorine or other highly hazardous chemicals strongly preferred
Working knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Programs (RMP)
Prior lead or supervisory experience preferred
Familiarity with railcar and tanker offloading systems
Strong understanding of safety protocols, emergency response, and regulatory compliance
Ability to work in a high‑hazard, fast‑paced environment with a strong attention to detail
Proficient in basic computer systems and documentation tools
