Job Description
Under the direction of the Manager/Supervisor/Lead Person, the Packaging Mechanic Lead is responsible for preventive maintenance and all repairs on all packaging machines. The role also requires adherence to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) that are in effect to assure the quality and quantity of product produced.

Responsibilities

Must have knowledge and experience with repairing and maintaining mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC systems and industrial equipment.

Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs during machine service.

Innovate and identify creative solutions within the organization.

Train other team members in instrumentation, control, and electrical systems.

Be proficient in electrical work at 220 volts and above.

Possess a high degree of working knowledge and practical application of instrumentation, controls, low, medium, and high voltage switchgear, transformers, programmable logic controllers, protective relays, and motor control centers; perform maintenance on motor control centers, motor operated valves, and programmable logic controllers.

Use advanced troubleshooting techniques to diagnose the root of problems and inspect, repair, and test machinery.

Troubleshoot complex pneumatic/hydraulic system issues.

Reference resources such as workbooks, drawings, and technical manuals to discover the cause of a problem.

Maintain the work area, maintenance shop, parts, and supplies area, keeping it clean and organized.

Perform other duties and/or responsibilities as requested.

Qualifications

Must comply with GMP requirements; specific functions and documents will be discussed in training.

10+ years of maintenance professional experience in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment.

High school diploma or equivalency preferred.

5+ years of manufacturing/packaging experience.

2 years of lead experience.

Mechanical/electrical/electronic trade background.

PLC troubleshooting experience.

Must be able to read and write in English.

High school diploma or equivalency preferred.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Work environment may be exposed to powders, chemicals, and allergens (peanuts, tree nuts, milk, dairy, eggs, wheat, gluten, soy, fish, and shellfish).

Must be able to work in a physically challenging environment, including bending, twisting, and standing for up to 8 hours.
