Job Summary
The
Claims Specialist
position is responsible for processing the daily functions within a bankruptcy filing as well as the timely processing and accurate analysis of claims for all default triggered loans, to minimize risk and loss exposure to the company and its investors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Reviews, analyzes, and ensures timely settlement of investor and mortgage insurance claims and manages claims to determine status and bring to closure. Adheres to claim filing timelines and manages workload to meet all required deadlines.
Manages assigned pipeline of loans to ensure accurate application of all claim funds received and provides additional information as necessary to validate all available funds received prior to claim being processed.
Ensures compliance with all investor/company policies and procedures as well as legislative and regulatory requirements for processing actions.
Acts as liaison between the Company, the insurers and agencies in providing required loan information for claims, and resolves any issues.
Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience
Minimum of at least one year default mortgage servicing experience.
Previous experience with VA/FHLMC/FNMA/MI claim experience preferred.
Functional/Technical Skills
Knowledge of mortgage banking practices and procedures including familiarity with FHMLC, FNMA, VA, FHA and GNMA guidelines, timeframes.
Working knowledge of Default Servicing procedures.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Strong mathematical skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
Must be flexible, organized and have the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines in a fast‑paced work environment.
Ability to problem‑solve effectively.
High proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, Outlook. LPS servicing system experience preferred.

Work is typically performed in a standard office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sustain predictable work attendance, communicate with others, frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and use arms, hands and fingers to reach, handle or touch.
