Responsibilities
The Child Welfare Services Case Worker Assistant provides daily assistance and support to include transportation and supervising youth experiencing placement instability in the areas of Foster Care, Adoption and Investigation. Transportation needs may include working outside of normal work hours.
Collaborates with county and regional adoption staff to transport children experiencing placement instability to and from placement, medical appointments, school and supervising youth who are unable to attend school, activity center or without an identified placement overnight.
Documents work activity in CAPSS system per policy guidance and informs youths case manager of information pertinent to meeting the needs of youth.
Works collaboratively with child welfare staff in performing administrative tasks in accordance with DSS Policy, Agency Mission and GPS Practice Model to support youth, families and other professional/agency partners. Tasks can include concerted efforts and family search and engagement.
Completes all necessary training to include TCI, Awaken, Adolescent Brain Development, Youth Thrive, GPS and documentation.
Authentically engages youth, families and other professionals with empathy and respect.
Maintains an active routine of self-care and pursues support when necessary to minimize the threat of secondary trauma to physical and mental health.
Ensures that personal identifying information (PII) is properly used, accessed, gathered, shared and disposed. To protect the agency networks and applications by safeguarding systems, equipment and data.
Performs Red Cross Shelter duty or other emergency shelter duty/services as directed.
Performs other relevant duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A High School diploma or equivalent. Related experience is preferred.
Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to and be able to operate a motor vehicle. Individuals must comply with necessary field work assignments.
