Position Overview
The Plant Dispatcher is responsible for operating trucks to transport dirt, aggregate, asphalt and other materials and/or equipment to various locations. When providing dispatch coverage, this position manages drivers’ schedules and routes while maintaining positive relationships with internal and external customers, production teams, and service personnel.
Key Responsibilities
Receives calls from customers and guides them through the ordering process.
Works with the dispatch center to coordinate trucks at the plant site, schedule, print tickets, and manage scheduling.
Establishes delivery times based on truck capacities, distances to delivery sites, and fleet availability.
Maintains active communication with the dispatch center and reports plant breakdowns and startups to all personnel.
Enters orders into the computer.
Places orders at appropriate locations based on jobsite location and plant availability.
Advises customers on mix usage for specific applications (e.g., footing, walls, flat work).
Monitors equipment locations and utilization to coordinate service and schedules.
Handles all calls and other forms of communication in a courteous, professional, and helpful manner.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED preferred.
One to two years of related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Work Requirements
Must be 21 years of age or older.
Must pass pre‑employment drug screening, criminal background check, and motor vehicle record check.
Must have and maintain a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker Endorsement and maintain an MVR that meets company standards.
Must have and maintain a valid DOT Medical Certificate.
Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and Safety Manuals.
Regular, on‑time, and consistent attendance required; willing to work nights, weekends, holidays, and work away from home when required.
Requires wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA, Company Policy, and specific Job Site Requirements.
Knowledge / Skill Requirements
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co‑workers or supervisors as needed.
Professional and courteous attitude toward co‑workers, supervisors, and the public.
Willingness and ability to adapt to changes in circumstances, tasks, customer needs, and other conditions that may affect daily responsibilities.
Proven ability to develop relationships and work with teams as both a leader and participant.

Physical Requirements
Regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds; frequently lift up to 35 pounds; occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Frequent talking, hearing, walking, and sitting; occasional standing, reaching, using hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and focus adjustment.
Communication via telephone, electronic, and in-person methods.
Computer use for email communication and preparation of documents and spreadsheets.
May require prolonged sitting.
Work Environment
While performing field duties, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and outside weather conditions. Noise level is typically moderate to loud. During non‑field duties, the environment is typical of an office setting with quiet to moderate noise levels.
