JOB SUMMARY:
Perform multiple tasks including masking, cleaning, grit blasting, glass bead cleaning, and thermal spray operations under limited supervision. Program and operate an ABB robot to apply thermal spray coatings for salvage and repair or restoration of worn components utilizing twin wire arc, combustion flame, or High Velocity Oxygen Fuel (HVOF) processes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Perform thermal spray operations utilizing various thermal spray processes.
Program, operate and maintain ABB Robot arm and related fixtures and turn tables.
Perform masking operations and fabricate masking shields.
Assist with designs fixtures and selects tooling to improve efficiencies in the shop.
Perform basic measuring operations.
Ensure proper coating thickness for minimal machining.
Maintain knowledge of thermal spray coatings and their application.
Properly prepare, mask, and apply thermal spray coatings to rebuild parts.
Work safely at all times. Adhere to all applicable safety policies. Comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate band saw, belt sander, grinder, glass bead grit blaster and other shop equipment.
Maintain and perform basic repairs to power supply, push pull system and spray gun.
Maintain records, provide data, and submit reports.
Comprehend and interpret sketches, diagrams, and print.
Avoid premature failures and rework by providing quality workmanship.
Provide on-the-job training to technicians and helpers as assigned.
Meet or exceed work standards.
Participate and promote continuous improvement in safety and production.
Work within and promote corporate values.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must have sufficient mechanical aptitude to develop equipment operating and troubleshooting skills.
Must be a motivated self-starter.
Must have interpersonal skills sufficient to assist clients and employees in a professional manner.
Must be able to work in a high visual concentration environment.
Must be able to work with various powders and chemicals.
Ability to maintain consistent attendance.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
Prefer previous knowledge of thermal spray techniques.
Syntax programming experience preferred.
Previous machine shop experience preferred.
Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend , write) in English.
