The Hilton Houston Post Oak by the Galleria is looking for their next Cook I to join their culinary team!
Located in the heart of Houston’s upscale Galleria area, the Hilton Houston Post Oak by the Galleria offers a dynamic, full-service environment ideal for culinary professionals looking to grow in a high-volume setting. The hotel features multiple on site dining outlets, including The Promenade, which delivers made from scratch breakfast with a Texas flair, the Brittany Bar serving elevated pub fare and craft beverages, and a convenient coffee concept, Java Jive. The Hilton Houston Post Oak by the Galleria provides cooks the opportunity to gain hands‑on experience across both à la carte and large‑scale production in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented kitchen.
Shift Pattern:
AM, weekends, and holidays.
The ideal Cook I candidate brings at least one year of professional kitchen experience or a culinary degree, along with strong foundational knife skills and a passion for quality and consistency. This role supports both Java Jive and the employee cafeteria, making it a great opportunity for someone eager to gain well‑rounded, high‑volume experience in a fast‑paced environment. We’re looking for an early riser with flexible AM availability who takes pride in their work, maintains a positive attitude, and is motivated to learn and grow. This position is perfect for someone looking to expand their skill set and be cross‑trained across multiple outlets within the hotel’s culinary operation.
What will I be doing?
As a Cook, you would be responsible for preparing food items in accordance with recipes and established standards in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding service and financial profitability. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
Prepare food items to support Java Jive and the employee cafeteria in accordance with the established recipes and standards
Maintain cleanliness and comply with food sanitation standards at all times
Manage guest orders in a friendly, timely and efficient manner
Ensure knowledge of menu and all food products
Stock and maintain designated food station(s)
Visually inspect all food sent from the kitchen
Practice correct food handling and food storage procedures according to federal, state, local and company regulations
Prepare requisitions for supplies and food items, as needed
