Rates for the 2026-2027 School Year
Substitute Teacher - $19.00/hour (full day = $133)
Substitute Teacher at Morton Academy - $20.60/hour
Substitute Aide - $17.00/hour
Substitute Aide at Morton Academy - $18.54/hour

TRS – Teachers' Retirement System: Currently Morton School District's Board of Education funds 100% of the Member TRS retirement contribution up to 9.0% (9.8901% compounded) and 0.9% of the professional staff member's salary for the Member THIS fund contribution. Any additional contributions required of the professional staff member in excess of the 0.9% shall be paid 50/50 by the Board and the professional staff member
Substitute Responsibilities

Subs are expected to dress and behave as professionals at all times. Jeans, tennis shoes, and other informal attire should not be worn while subbing.
Prompt or early arrival to review and familiarize yourself with lesson plans, materials, and procedures for the day.
Always check in and out at the school office each day, unless instructed otherwise by the principal or office secretary.
If you have questions concerning lesson plans, please ask other teachers in the grade level or department, or the building principal.
Check the fire and disaster drill procedures on the wall next to the classroom door before students arrive.
If lesson plans and materials were not complete and available, please contact the principal.
Notify the principal of more severe or recurring discipline problems. Minor problems are to be handled by the substitute teacher, and the classroom teacher is to be informed by the substitute teacher's report.
Complete attendance, lunch count, and other bookkeeping activities required by the school. Follow established classroom rules and procedures.
Check all student work with the exception of subjective materials. Grades and grade book entering will be completed by the classroom teacher.
All duties assigned to the classroom teacher for the day shall be completed by the substitute teacher, i.e., bus duty and hall duty.
To ensure continuity of instruction, please follow the lesson plans and complete the specified material as much as possible. Please note any adjustments on the Sub Teacher Report.
Complete the Substitute Teacher Report at the end of the day. Leave one copy on the teacher's desk and give the second copy to the principal when you check out.
