The Milwaukee Rescue Mission’s Cross Trainers Academy (CTA) is a K4-12th grade Christian Academy in the heart of Milwaukee, serving students and families who are searching for a strong academic learning experience in a gospel-centered environment. As a Choice School, CTA is committed to offering a comprehensive, student-centered educational experience that serves the whole student.

Cross Trainers Academy is seeking a full-time Elementary Educational Assistant (EA) for the 2026-27 school year. Under the direction of the teaching staff, the assistant will supervise and assist students in classrooms, halls, cafeteria, gymnasium, during recess, and on field trips. The EA complements the work of the teacher in maintaining a safe and joyful classroom culture through normalizing error, maintaining adult authority, engaging students in differentiated learning, inspiring and celebrating growth, supporting students to reach established goals with excellence, guide students to peacefully interact with peers and adults, and maintain established routines.

Work Schedule
Monday 7:00 am–4:00 pm, Tuesday–Friday 7:00 am–3:00 pm. This hourly position can be annual (12 months) or a 10‑month commitment.

Responsibilities

Supervision and mentoring to elementary school students, assisting with daily tasks and ongoing development

Present subject matter to students in small groups or one‑on‑one under the direction and guidance of the supervising teacher

Assist teachers in planning, scheduling, and implementing daily program activities appropriate to the developmental level of the assigned students

Observe student performance and record relevant data to assess progress according to teacher direction

Inform teacher/principal of any concerns regarding a student’s learning, social interaction or physical function

Support school culture (physical and relational), including leading students in the proper care of curriculum materials, furniture, and property

Consistently and kindly enforce schools rules to support consequences in accordance with established school‑wide practices/programs

Participate in staff meetings, continuing education and in‑service programs

Attend specials classes (Art, PE, Music) with the students during the teacher planning period

Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED required; Associate or Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Previous classroom experience preferred

Competent in Word, Excel, Outlook, Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, PowerSchool

Ability to work effectively with diverse families and students

Ability to mentor students on a social‑emotional level and tutor students in academic areas preferred

Exceptional analytical, problem solving and organizational skills

Good communication skills with students, parents and staff

A workplace demeanor consistent with a Christian church environment: civil, respectful, polite, and responsive

Must be able to handle physical workload – ability to stand or sit for long periods of time, walking, stair climbing, kneeling, squatting, crouching, reaching, handling and gripping without difficulty, repetitive movement of both hands and arms, as well as occasional lifting or moving items with a maximum weight of 35 lbs a short distance (e.g., floor to shelf or cart), and pushing or pulling heavier items with the use of a cart or dolly

Be in agreement with and subscribe to the Milwaukee Rescue Mission’s Statement of Faith and Statement of Biblical Convictions

Be a committed follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, which is evident in personal testimony and Christian conduct

Pass a pre‑employment background check and drug test
