Job Description

The Assistant Football Coach will assist in directing the football program at the middle school level. Pioneer and Garrison Middle Schools combine for 7th and 8th grade football.
Essential Functions

Implement teaching and coaching philosophies consistent with the Walla Walla School District and Washington Interscholastic Activities Association missions.
Instruct participants in individual, group, and team techniques, tactics, and physical training for success.
Communicate a philosophy emphasizing ethical competition, sportsmanship, leadership, and citizenship to students, parents, staff, and community members.
Utilize effective coaching techniques for skill development, strategy, and team relations.
Develop and promote high level performance expectations for all players and coaches.
Support and help implement the established off-season strength, conditioning and skills development program.
Reporting Relationships

Reports to the Athletic Director, Head Middle School Football Coach, Building Principal, and Human Resources.
Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience
Teaching certificate and experience preferred.
Successful experience in teaching technical skills specific to this coaching position.
High School Diploma or GED.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Demonstrated ability to carry out program duties as established by the Head Coach, Middle School Principal, Athletic Director and district policies.
Verified coaching techniques in scope and sequence of skill development, safety, teamwork, strategy, interpersonal relations, routine training, practice and game organization.
Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with students, parents, coaches, administrators, staff, and community.
Organizational and management skills for short and long-term tasks.
Positive role model with clear philosophy for the coaching level.
Professional integrity, vigor, flexibility, enthusiasm.
Licenses and Special Requirements
WIAA certification and compliance with WIAA and district rules.
Must meet age requirements of WIAA.
Complete minimum of 5 coach education hours in any three-year period.
Possess current First Aid/CPR certification.
Maintain coaching standards as required by District and Washington Interscholastic Activities Association.
Completed Employment Application/Background Check.
Resume with education, experience, and three current references.
