Position Details
Under the technical supervision of the Public Works Director, the Part Time Public Works Technician performs unskilled routine maintenance work with city parks, grounds, buildings, and equipment.

Job Duties and Essential Functions

Maintain grass, trees, shrubs, and other vegetation in and around parks and recreation facilities.

Maintain and operate assigned hand tools and personal equipment.

Assist in maintaining City parks and roads.

Ensure equipment is in adequate condition before use and report any malfunctions.

Perform minor maintenance operations on vehicles.

Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Licenses
Minimum Qualifications

16 years of age.

A valid Minnesota Class D Driver’s license.

Desired Qualifications
Experience performing manual and maintenance work.

Processes, procedures, or software vary from one assignment to the next, although assignments are related in function and objective.

Supervision
This position carries out a group of procedures using the general methods and desired results that the supervisor indicates. This position selects from among the most appropriate of several guidelines, makes minor adjustments to methods, and refers unforeseen situations to others for solution. No coordination of work with other individuals.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of the job. The role involves indoor and outdoor work, in various weather conditions, and potential exposure to irritants, fumes, and hazardous chemicals. Must be able to work odd hours, split shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays when necessary. Limited lifting of 80lbs is required.
