Position Overview
System One is seeking a Health Physicist Technician 2 to support radiation safety operations for advanced nuclear and laboratory environments. This role is responsible for performing radiological surveys, supporting daily radiation protection activities, and ensuring compliance with established safety standards and procedures.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in health physics, experience with radiological instrumentation, and the ability to work in a fast‑paced, highly regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

Perform contamination and exposure rate surveys

Conduct routine inspections of laboratory and radiological conditions

Deploy and collect airborne monitoring equipment and filters

Provide operational radiation safety support to personnel

Ensure compliance with radiation safety procedures and policies

Support shipment and receipt inspections of radioactive materials

Maintain and calibrate radiological instruments

Assist with inventory and management of radiation safety equipment

Perform and support decontamination activities as needed

Provide radiation safety and instrumentation training to staff

Support ALARA program implementation and monitoring

Maintain proper labeling, posting, and control of radiological areas

Assist in establishing controls for new radiological work areas

Required Qualifications

High school diploma with 4+ years of health physics technician experience, OR

Associate degree in Radiation Protection, Health Physics, or related field

Experience performing radiological surveys and supporting radiation safety programs

Familiarity with radiation detection equipment (GM meters, ion chambers, gamma counters, etc.)

Strong understanding of radiological safety practices and procedures

Ability to wear PPE, respirators, and dosimetry equipment

Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills

Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in nuclear or highly regulated environments

Military nuclear experience (ELT or similar)

Experience supporting laboratory or research environments

Additional Requirements

Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs

Ability to work flexible schedules, including overtime as needed

Ability to work in environments with radiological and chemical hazards

Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
