Job Overview
Fairview Range is looking for a dedicated Unit Assistant (UA) to join our Acute Care unit in the med‑surgery department in Hibbing, MN.
The UA functions under the direction of a Registered Nurse to deliver direct and indirect quality patient‑centered care. The UA provides nursing care appropriate to the age of patients served, including physical hygiene, nutrition, ambulation, socialization, observation, safety, and emotional and physical comfort needs. The UA also maintains a safe and clean working environment, answers call lights, telephones, and relays messages to appropriate personnel.
Schedule
This casual position works 16–32 hours per two weeks. The shift length is 8‑hour rotating day, evening, and night shifts with weekends undesignated.
About this Unit
This unit treats medical, surgical, and pediatric patients. Remodeled in 2015, it includes 28 single patient rooms and an adjacent 4‑bed ICU. As part of the care team, the UA completes patient‑centered care by meeting both the psychological and physical needs of the patients and ensures efficient service in accordance with providers’ orders, The Joint Commission, nursing, and departmental guidelines.

Multidisciplinary care team including Board Certified/Eligible Hospitalists, sophisticated practice providers, RNs, LPNs, Unit Assistants, Social Workers, and RN Case Managers
Responsibilities
Assist in implementation of the plan of care under the direction of an RN, including activities of daily living such as dressing, toileting, personal hygiene, bathing, oral care, eating, and drinking.
Answer telephone calls and relay messages promptly and thoroughly.
Record acquired patient data in the EHR.
Required Qualifications
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Current BLS certification or attendance at a BLS class within 3 months of employment and maintenance of certification. Current BCS or acquisition within three months of employment and maintenance of certification.
Preferred Qualifications
One year of recent work experience as a nursing assistant.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Graduation from a nursing aide program.
CNA certification.
Knowledge of computers and word processing.
