Nurse Assistant - Post-Surgical Unit - 36hr - Day Shift
Schedule: 36hrs , 12hr Day Shift, 7am-7:30pm
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the direction and supervision of the responsible Registered Nurse (RN), performs specific patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs of the patient.
Provides input to assist the RN in planning and implementing patient care.
Responds to emergent situations according to established procedures.
Recognizes and participates in own continuing education.

UNIT DESCRIPTION
Our unit is a fast‑paced, high‑acuity post‑surgical environment dedicated to delivering exceptional, patient‑centered care. We specialize in providing care for a diverse range of post‑surgical patient procedures, including general surgery, urological, vascular, colorectal, and gynecological surgeries. In addition, we are proud to support specialized bariatric surgical procedures and manage complex therapies such as epidurals, tracheostomies, continuous bladder irrigation (CBI), chest tubes, and patient‑controlled analgesia (PCA's), while also serving as a surgical trauma overflow unit.
As a closed unit, we foster a strong sense of teamwork, consistency, and collaboration among our staff, creating a supportive and cohesive work environment. Our scheduling model includes every third weekend, promoting a balanced and predictable work‑life schedule. We are proud of our high nurse retention rate, reflecting a positive workplace culture where staff feel valued and supported.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. CNA preferred.
Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (titles for similar programs may vary; e.g., Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Patient Assistant Technician (PAT) but perform the same job role.) OR May be currently enrolled in a nursing program and have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Nursing course. OR Foreign trained and licensed RN who has relocated to the United States and does not hold a Michigan Rn license. OR Medical Assistant program with OR without experience. OR At least one (1) year of previous experience in an NA, PCT, PAT, or similar job role.
