Summary
The Senior Route Setter is a highly skilled member of the setting team who bridges the gap between the Head and Assistant Setters. They take a lead role in maintaining the consistency, safety, and quality of routes and boulders, while supporting daily operations, mentoring other setters, and ensuring an efficient and professional work environment.

Responsibilities

Lead or co‑lead setting days and forerunning sessions

Set and forerun routes up to 5.13a and boulders up to V8

Ensure quality, consistency, and grading accuracy across all climbs

Provide mentorship and feedback to Assistant and Apprentice Setters

Support rotation planning, scheduling, and workload organization

Maintain a safe and efficient work zone (including hardware and hold management)

Communicate effectively with the Head Setter and management on daily priorities

Assist with competitions and special events as a senior team representative

Follow all CRG safety protocols and model professional conduct

Requirements

Flexible schedule with early morning and occasional weekend availability

4+ years of professional route setting experience

Ability to set routes up to 5.13a and boulders up to V8

PRS 2, WAH 1 required, USAC Level 2+ certification preferred

Strong understanding of movement, risk management, and member experience

Comfortable working at heights of 40+ feet on ropes, ladders, and lifts

Skilled with power tools (impact drivers, angle grinders, etc.)

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs

Strong leadership, communication, and attention to detail

Friendly, approachable, and team‑focused personality
