About the role:
The Senior Medical Science Liaison is an integral member of the medical affairs team. In this field‑based role, you will contribute to Takeda’s mission by supporting the development and life‑cycle management of Takeda Oncology medicines. The key objective of the MSL role is to engage scientifically with key opinion leaders in their assigned geography via accurate, scientific, and non‑promotional information exchange. As part of the Oncology Field Medical team, you will report to the Medical Science Liaison Director and work with internal and external partners. The territory includes Northern California (from Fresno to the border of Oregon) and Nevada. You must reside in territory.
How you will contribute:
Apply subject‑matter knowledge and adaptive communication skills to support medical strategies for Takeda compounds on the solid‑tumor space, with a special focus on colorectal cancer, and in addressing unsolicited requests for medical information from a variety of external stakeholders.
Develop and leverage thought‑leader relationships by identifying mutually beneficial opportunities that meet the strategic needs of US Medical Affairs.
Provide medical insights and intelligence from the field to support the development and life‑cycle management of Takeda Oncology compounds.
Participate in, lead, and contribute to projects and initiatives within a matrix environment that increase the value and productivity of US Medical Affairs Oncology.
Establish relationships and engage in peer‑to‑peer scientific discussions around emerging data, treatment guidelines, molecular pathways, and mechanisms of action of Takeda Oncology products, including clinical outcomes and research opportunities.
Formulate and keep updated a specific territory engagement plan aligned with US Field Medical priorities and objectives that support the integrated medical strategy for assigned compounds/disease areas. Execute the scientific engagement plan according to MSL priorities.
Collect medical insights and intelligence from scientific exchanges with HCPs and the medical community, and ensure timely entry of insights into the insight tool to communicate relevant information to internal stakeholders.
Respond to unsolicited inquiries consistent with field medical SOP.
Support Takeda Oncology sponsored research and assist in identifying, evaluating, and screening qualified research sites for company‑sponsored clinical investigation.
Participate in executing USMAO strategy at medical conferences.
Identify potential qualified sites for future pipeline studies.
Present accurate, fair, balanced scientific information to external stakeholders in a variety of settings, including 1:1 interactions, medical meetings, or Takeda‑sponsored engagements.
Complete all required training, activity documentation, expense reporting, and other administrative responsibilities.
Daily entry to hospitals and other medical facilities is required. Vendors must meet credentialing requirements (training, background check, immunization) for entry.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
Advanced scientific or healthcare degree required; doctoral degree preferred (PharmD, PhD, MD, NP, DMP/ARNP, etc.).
A minimum of 3 years of healthcare, clinical, or related experience (residencies, post‑doc fellowship, managed markets, clinical practice, research or academic) is required.
Experience in oncology is required.
CRC and lung therapeutic area experience is preferred.
Other solid‑tumor experience desired.
Superior communication skills, both oral and written, and ability to engender trust and respect of peers, team members, and supervisors.
Versed in technical and scientific language to communicate with key opinion leaders, Medical Affairs, Research and Development, and other key internal and external stakeholders.
Travel Requirements:
Ability to drive to or fly to various meetings/client sites.
Overnight travel (50-60%), including some weekend commitments.
Travel may vary depending on geography.

U.S. Base Salary Range:
$169,400.00 – $266,200.00
The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives or will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short‑term and/or long‑term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short‑term and long‑term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well‑being benefits, among others.
