
Middle and High School Dean of Academics

Scope of Responsibilities
Reporting to the High School Principal, the Middle and High School Dean of Academics is a full-time position scheduled for 217 days annually, with an 8-hour workday. The Dean supports the daily operations of the middle and high school programs, with a specialized focus on instruction, student learning, and faculty support.
General Responsibilities / Essential Functions
Assist the Middle and High School Principals in academic leadership of the middle and high school faculty
Assist with the execution of the school's academic strategies outlined in its strategic plan and in daily pedagogy.
Serve as the Advanced Placement Coordinator and lead on AP testing
Partner with administrators and faculty to review student academic performance and then use data to drive instructional practices and future assessments.
Regularly observe and provide feedback to faculty
Assist in the annual evaluations of faculty
Assist with curriculum reviews for academic disciplines
Assist in the creation of professional development plans
Lead professional development sessions as appropriate.
Assist with accreditation reviews and reports
Assist the enrollment department in hosting partnership conferences
Regularly monitor gradebooks and assignment postings
Collect and review faculty lesson plans
Assist the Principals in onboarding new faculty
Teach 1 class as needed
Assist wherever needed with day‑to‑day administrative responsibilities
Regularly meet with the HS principal and MS Principal
Serve on the Academic Leadership Team as requested and the High School Leadership Team
Attend Department Head meetings
Other duties and projects as assigned
Qualified Applicants
Must be a born‑again believer in Jesus Christ; be involved with an evangelical, Protestant church of like faith and practice; and agree with the philosophies, Statement of Faith, and Statement of Christian Life Commitment of Southside Christian School.
Have a commitment to the mission, core values, and the Portrait of a Graduate as expressed by Southside Christian School
Must be demonstrated by having their eligible children enrolled in Southside Christian School.
Must be a spiritually mature, veteran Christian leader who agrees with the school's Mission, Values, Biblical Beliefs, Statement of Christian Life Commitment, Statement of KINGdom CommUNITY, and Statement of Faith.
Must be able to articulate a deep understanding of a biblically informed philosophy of Christian education.
Must have experience working directly with students in a leadership capacity.
Must have a bachelor's degree. Masters in Educational Leadership or an academic discipline is preferred.
Strong communication and presentation skills are required.
Must be able to obtain ACSI Certification.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
