Position Summary
The Med/Surg unit at Jackson Purchase Medical Center embodies a culture of teamwork and effective communication, essential for providing care to patients. This is a 64‑bed unit that ensures patients receive optimal medical attention and support. We strive to create places where patients choose to come for healthcare, where providers desire to practice, and Team Members want to work.
Responsibilities
Assesses the patient's condition and nursing care needs
Sets goals and prescribes appropriate nursing interventions to meet physical, psychological, social and rehabilitative needs of patients
Develops individual nursing care plans
Implements care plans and makes revisions as needed
Evaluates patient care outcomes
Collaborates with physicians and other hospital employees
Administers medications, treatments and therapies.
Communicates with patients and oversees provision of care.
Provides patients and/or family with instruction and education relevant to condition.
Accurately documents nursing observations, assessments, medications, treatments, and other care given.
Required Skills
Critical thinking skills
Decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Capable of working in a stressful environment and taking appropriate action.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Associate's degree required
Bachelor's degree preferred
Certifications
Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire
Licenses
Registered Nurse licensed to work in the State of Kentucky. New Graduates may work under a KY provisional license for up to 6 months with the expectation that an RN license will be obtained within the first 6 months of employment.
