Overview
The Peer Support Specialist supports individuals in their recovery through individual and group meetings that provide information, dispel myths, and inspire hope. The Peer Support Specialist assists with care coordination.
Responsibilities
Meets individually and in groups to facilitate recovery through providing education and inspiring hope.
Serves as a role model.
Assists in care coordination.
Assists in conducting peer support activities and support groups.
Attends treatment team meetings as requested and shares information gathering from the patients to assist with the development and updating of treatment plans.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Experiential understanding of substance use disorders and/or mental illness.
Licenses/Certifications: Certification as a Peer Support Specialist where required by contract or statute.
Compliance: Must be able to pass facility’s background check.
