invites motivated college students and emerging young professionals to apply for a paid summer internship that offers meaningful, hands‑on experience in the nonprofit and Jewish communal sector.
This unique internship combines professional workplace experience with mission‑driven work rooted in
Jewish values, community responsibility, and legacy preservation . Interns will work alongside experienced nonprofit professionals in both office and field settings, gaining practical skills while contributing to projects that honor sacred spaces and serve the broader community.
This is more than a summer job. It is an opportunity to explore careers in
Jewish communal work, nonprofit management, public history, philanthropy, and community engagement .
What You’ll Learn
As a JCBA Summer Intern, you will gain experience in:
Nonprofit management and leadership
Professional workplace and communication skills
Cemetery preservation and stewardship
Jewish burial traditions and communal responsibility
Community engagement and mission‑based storytelling
History, research, and legacy preservation
Fundraising, donor relations, and philanthropy
Tikkun olam through meaningful public service
What You’ll Do
Your responsibilities will include:
Assisting with cemetery site visits and preservation initiatives
Supporting office operations and nonprofit administration
Researching cemetery history and community legacy projects
Writing content for donor communications, social media, and outreach materials
Engaging in fundraising and stewardship efforts
Participating in special projects that support JCBA’s mission
Delivering a self‑directed marketing plan focused on increasing awareness of JCBA in the Greater Pittsburgh market
Participating in community outreach and engagement initiatives
Who Should Apply
We welcome students with academic or experiential backgrounds in:
Nonprofit management
History or public history
Marketing, communications or writing
Public service
Related fields
Successful Candidates Will Bring
Strong writing and communication skills
Interest in nonprofit and Jewish communal careers
Comfort working both outdoors and in an office setting
Curiosity, professionalism, and initiative
Judaic knowledge or background is a plus
