Job Description
Assist with newborn care at deliveries, providing immediate care and support to newborns during and after delivery.
Maintain skills in neonatal resuscitation to respond effectively in emergencies.
Demonstrate assessment skills in high and low-risk obstetrical patients to identify potential risks and health issues.
Identify and report maternal and newborn problems to the physician promptly.
Assist with the transfer of newborns to other facilities when indicated, ensuring safe and efficient transfers.
Accurately identify and band newborns, mothers, and significant others to prevent mix-ups.
Document all care activities accurately, including band identification numbers in medical records.
Provide care during obstetrical surgical procedures, assisting in the Labor & Delivery Operating Suite.
Perform intraoperative and post-anesthesia care according to established standards.
Conduct steam sterilization processing for instruments and supplies, ensuring all sterilization parameters are met.
Provide emotional support for grieving parents, offering compassionate support and connecting them with appropriate support groups.
Educate and support families about newborn care, health conditions, and post-discharge care.
